Jay Whittaker was born on the misty & beautiful Hood Canal in Washington state. He attended graduate school at S.M.U. in Dallas, Texas, then moved to Chicago where he began his professional career. He lived in Chicago for 8 years, working at such renowned theaters as The Goodman & Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and in film and television with great artists such as Bob Odenkirk, Will Arnett, Michael Shannon, and Bret Ratner. He then moved to New York where he cut his teeth Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons and The Duke on 42nd street. Leaving New York, Jay lived in the deserts of Arizona, walking through the Hopi Indian Reservation on a vision quest to recharge his spirit. For the last 4 years Jay has been traveling and doing regional theatre, spending half his year in San Diego as a member of Adrian Noble's Shakespeare Company at The Old Globe, as well as pursuing his passions of hiking, camping and surfing.
Jay now resides in LA where he acts and surfs.
